Hibbert led the race from the holeshot and by race end built a half-lap lead over eventual second-place finisher second Ryan Simons. Like he did in the Pro Stock race the day prior, Simons was an endurance competitor working through the field of competitors to earn his finishing position from fourth after the start. TJ Gulla was the first rider to slot behind Hibbert and remained there through mid-race, but never put pressure on Hibbert.

Ross Martin was in third, and the first driver Simons worked past. At mid-race, Simons was putting pressure on Gulla to take second when Gulla had a small

Brett Turcotte, after advancing through the LCQ round, made an impressive run and finished fourth.

Tucker Hibbert Wins Pro Stock At Duluth

November 29, 2008

Tucker Hibbert won his 39th career snocross race when he put his Monster Energy Arctic Cat Sno Pro across the finish line first in the 30-lap Pro Stock feature. Hibbert launched to an early lead, settled into a rhythm and led the race from flag-to-flag.

In the new longer race format, it was more like an endurance race than a typical snocross. When on the podium, Hibbert said the longer race was a “way to separate the guys who work hard, and you’re looking at three guys who work hard to put on the best show we can.” Joining him on the podium in second was Polaris-driver Levi Lavallee and Arctic Cat driver Ryan Simons in third.

LaVallee was in third from the start, and moved ahead of teammate T.J. Gulla to take second. Gulla remained in third for much of the race, but couldn’t match the pace of Hibbert and LaVallee who turned consistent lap times. At race end, only four drivers finished 30 laps: Hibbert, LaVallee, Simons and Gulla who finished fourth.

Bobby LePage Wins Semi-Pro Open At Duluth

November 29, 2008

Jumping right into the new ISOC race format and taking the first checkered flag of the Amsoil National Snocross Series season was Duluth-native and Polaris driver Bobby LePage. Rather than three rounds of qualifying, the new ISOC race format has a single, 10-lap qualifying round and a 20-lap final for the semi-pro drivers. Racers can also advance through a single LCQ.

LePage had a good holeshot, but seated into the early laps in second behind Christian Salemark riding the No. 666 Arctic Cat. LePage’s No. 244 Polaris took the lead after the half-way point and he held the lead to the finish. Chris Kafka, also on a Polaris, raced from third to pass Salemark and held on for second giving Polaris a 1-2 finish. Salemark finished third.

One of the fastest drivers on the track was Ski-Doo racer Kyle Pallin. He was snuffed on the start, but regained from his back-of-pack position to finish ninth.

The Track is Bigger, Better at Duluth Snocross

November 28, 2008

Thanks to Mother Nature, the crew at Duluth, Minnesota’s Spirit Mountain had ideal conditions to make an abundance of snow for the kickoff to the International Series Of Champions (ISOC) season. Duluth, the long-time kickoff to the snocross and winter racing season, played host to ISOC’s return to terrain racing for the Amsoil Championship Snocross Series.

ISOC, proclaiming itself as the racer’s circuit, opened the track for practice to the race classes. Drivers were treated to the longest track the Duluth venue has constructed complimented with great snowcover. With a weather forecast ideal for both racing and spectating, it’s going to be a great Duluth race weekend.

Once again, the folks at Visit Duluth, the staff of Spirit Mountain have created an ideal atmosphere for the snocross season opener. With the new ISOC circuit in charge, racing went without a hitch on day one. In fact, the schedule was too efficient. After a long wait, fans were treated to high-flying, big-air tricks from the Monster Energy Slednecks Invasion Tour with riders Chris Burandt, Sam Rogers and Paul Thacker followed by a fireworks display.

A reminder to race fans coming this weekend: follow the signs for parking at the Proctor fairgrounds and take the shuttle bus to the snocross season kickoff. ISOC is off to a great start with a better-than-ever track.

On Track 4 Him To Provide Church Services at ISOC Events

November 26, 2008

MINNEAPOLIS (November, 25, 2008) - On Track 4 Him (OT4H), a ministry designed to bring Christ to the racing community, will be offering religious services at all AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series (ACSS) Nationals as well as all International Series of Champions (ISOC) Minnesota regional races for the 2008-2009 season. Founders Jim Wiles along with Wayne and Peggy Thomsen will provide family based worship services immediately following the driver’s meeting on Sunday mornings. “We are fortunate to have On Track 4 Him as part of our racing community,” said John Daniels, owner of ISOC. “It’s a great way to keep faith an important part of our racing community.”

On Track 4 Him was involved in the regional and national snocross circuits last winter and was very well received by the snowmobile racing community. Much like last year, OT4H will include special guest speakers, testimonials and a weekly message guaranteed to be positive and inspirational. The featured guest speaker at the season opening race in Duluth will be Jesse Stregge, a former professional racer and an active participant in OT4H.

“The church service we provide meets a need for individuals in the racing community who would like to attend church but have made a commitment to racing during the winter months,” said Peggy Thomsen. “Last year the snowmobile community made us feel very welcomed and we are looking forward to serving everyone again this season.”

As a non-profit organization, OT4H is looking for contributions to help offset the costs of bringing the ministry to the track each week; this includes such items as fuel, lodging and meals. To help jump-start the need for contributions, a gracious returning sponsor of OT4H has agreed to match all funds raised from now until the end of November.

 All contributions are tax deductible and should be made to: Christ Community Church to the attention of On Track 4 Him. Contributions can be mailed to:

On Track 4 Him;

PO Box 627; Nisswa, MN 56468;

Or better yet make your donation in person during the AMSOIL Duluth National Snocross, November 28-30. On Track 4 Him will be staffing a booth at the race as well as providing services Sunday morning.
