Selby!

Selby!

Craig, Colorado – XMR put on a great Show at the Wyman Winter Festival in Craig, Colorado this past weekend. With over 3,400 spectators in attendance the festivities were fun for everyone. From snocross, to drags, the vintage show, the snodeo, fireworks and finals under the lights there was no shortage of winter snowmobiling fun. XMR hauled snow for almost two weeks and built a great track full of bumps that changed a lot throughout the race day with lots of sled traffic. XMR packed two days of racing into one full day and it wasn’t until he sun went down and the lights lit up that the finals took place.

Sport Stock Start

In the Pro/Semi Pro finals Wes Selby took the stock and mod honors over Willie Elam who had been winning the qualifiers most of the day. They put on a great show in the main, and rightfully so, with a $3,000 purse on the lines. It was the same in the sport class where Tyler Dyess had been winning the qualifiers, with Jason Fox Close behind, but Fox was hungry for the win in the main and took both the Sport I and Sport II wins for the day. Xtreme Mountain Racing Lights Up Afton, WY

February 8, 2010

Afton, Wyoming XMR traveled farther north that it ever has to put on race three of the eight race season. This new location, just south of Jackson invited MWR riders to come mix it up with XMR, and with Coeur d’Alene canceled, many turned out for the fun – from local Pro/semi-pro Willie Elam to 120 rider Brody Hasenack. The horseshoe shaped track at the Afton fairgrounds proved challenging for all and went from fast and smooth on Saturday morning to a total bump-fest on Sunday.

afton race 106Elam took the holeshot and the honors in both the Semi-Pro/Pro Stock and Open classes followed by Logan Halford and Zach Acord. In the women’s class Erica Potter came out and tried her hand, but didn’t have much luck, and after Michelle Stoffle came off her sled Darla Murphy took the win in the main. AJ Stoffle kept up his winning streak in Junior 10-13, and it was Cody Docheff in the 7-10 class. In the 120’s Jake Gill took the stock win and Peyton Hogan took the Champ win. XMR Snocross Finale at the Top of the World!

March 30, 2009

The last start of a great season!

The last start of a great season!

Silverton, Colorado – March 30, 2009 -

As the spring riding season settles into the Rocky’s, XMR hosted the final race of the season at 10,500 feet, almost two miles above sea level in Silverton, Colorado – this is the essence of Xtreme Mountain Racing – sled tuning was never more important, athlete endurance wasn’t tested like this all season, and the season championships were on the line! The long track sat high in San Juans and featured a big up-hill step-up/step-down to a 90-foot triple and a huge finish line double – the racing was fast and the track made for some carnage that was definitely exciting for spectators!

Stoffles start the last races of the season...

The Stoffles, Michael and Teresa, really made XMR shine this season, and so it was only fitting that they showed the riders the way around the track during the opening ceremonies under the Silverton sun. It wasn’t long after that the racing began, and XMR’s top riders finalized their positions for the season. Logan Montgomery had built up a strong lead in the 120 classes, and won the last race of his season and the season championship in the Stock and Modified classes. Kyler Green did the same in the 120 Super Sunday class. His Brother Jarrat sealed the deal in the Junior 7-10 Class, as did AJ Stoffle in the Junior 10-13 class and the 10-13 Challenge. Wesely Chapman won the Junior 14-15 race, but Dillon Thomas ran consistently all season and took the championship! Thomas won the 14-17 Challenge race, but Dillon Moss took the class honors for the season in addition to the Junior 16-17 crown!

A heated Semi-Pro season finale is on!

A heated Semi-Pro season finale is on!

The adult classes saw some great racing as well as the seasons battles were settled in these last few contests. In Sport class Shad Peterson took the win and the championship in Sport Stock I while Mike DePalma took the title in Sport Stock II. Michelle Stoffle held the Stoffle name high with a win and the season honors in Sport Women. Eric Potter, the old iron man, won the Masters race and the season championship. He was beat out by Shane Lloyd in the Semi-Pro race, but with his consistency all season took the XMR Semi-Pro champ title as well.

These last races were some of the best of the season – the track was imposing and the riders brought their A-games and were ready for this final event, and a great event it was. XMR is proud of all the teams and riders that participated this year, and all those that volunteered time and money to help this season. XMR is already planning for next season, and always looking for input to advance the snowmobile sports we all love in the western states. Questions or comments are always appreciated, so visit www.xmrracing.com to contact XMR and see final race results and point standings. Enjoy the spring riding, and visit us on the track next year!

Wyman Winter Carnival Hosts XMR Races!

February 20, 2009

Craig, Colorado – February 16, 2009 – The Wyman Museum hosted their annual winter carnival this past weekend and provided a great site for Xtreme Mountain Racing’s snocross and enduro races. Almost 5,000 spectators visited throughout the weekend to watch races, see vintage snowmobiles, ice sculptures, the museum and more. Wes Selby built a great track for the races and all the riders, Pro’s to 120′s, had a great weekend.

Semi-Pro Riders Comin' at Ya!

Semi-Pro Riders Comin' at Ya!

In addition to bringing his skills to the helm of the groomer, Wes Selby proved victorious in the Semi-Pro races in both the Stock and Open classes. He rode his black Cat well and put on a great show for fans. Zach Acord was in the chase as well and despite a sore hip took second in both events. The Sport classes were rounded out by the usual suspects and the points race between Peterson and DePalma continues. Dylon Moss rode hard in the sport classes as well, but had a few offs that set him back. He did however ride his Polaris to victory in the Junior 16-17 class, followed by Trevor Corbin and Trent Chanell. Debbie Montgomery rounded out the Montgomery race team and found herself on the podium in the Sport Women class, with TJ and Logan also riding well in the Masters and 120 classes respectively. Dylon Thomas won the Junior 14-15 class with the Stoffles, AJ and Michelle not for behind. The racing was good and the fans and riders had a great time. [Read more]

Wycolo, Wyoming – February 9, 2009 –

Xtreme Mountain Racing invited snocross racers and spectators to 8,900ft. above sea level – the high mountains of the Snowy Range in Southern Wyoming this past weekend. This locals stomping ground brought some unexpected racers out of “retirement” (who really retires from riding anyways?) for some bumpy paint tradin’ on a tight mountain track.

Eagle Inaugural was a fast and fun track! DePalma Leads the Sport Class

Eagle, Colorado – February 2, 2009Xtreme Mountain Racing was in Eagle, Colorado this January 31st and February 1st for the first time ever. The Van Campen ranch provided a great snocross race site, and a venue for the local skijoring competition during the same weekend. Wes Selby designed a long wide and FAST track with the help of Will Brown who ran the snow cat all weekend for XMR. Covering almost a mile, the race pace was fast and really exciting to watch.

Granby, Colorado- January 12, 2009

Sport Riders are Competitive This Year!

Sport Riders are Competitive This Year!

Xtreme Mountain Racing was back in Granby January 10th and 11th for the Acord-Cornwell Tool Invitational. This was the second of two weekend long events at the Linke Ranch and after riders had seen the track last week the racing was fast, furious and fun. The pace had definitely picked up…

The finals rounds started with the 7-10 Juniors – the littlest guys on big sleds – where the Green brothers, Jarrat and Kyler dominated on their Ski-Doo’s. Both from Riverton, WY, Jarrat took first with Kyler not far behind. The Minis took to the track next with Cameron “T-Bone” Thomas stealing the lead on a Cat to win over Logan Montgomery on his Indy in the 120 stock class.

The 120 Mod class was not even a race, Kyler Green on his loud Cat mini mod took the holeshot and lead for two long laps catching big air on that little sled. In the 10-13 Junior class AJ Stoffle on his Yellow Fan put big distance between himself and pack early in the main and easily took the win. #357 Johnny Johnson on his old bodystyle Polaris gave Dillon Thomas a good race in the Junior 14-15 main, but Dillon did pull of the win on his Top Shelf Cat.

In the oldest Juniors class the Tylor Dyess dominated on his zebra striped Ski-Doo, but had some tough luck later in the day with a crash while leading the Sport I main in the white flag lap.

XMR Welcomes Riders and Fans to the 2008-2009 Season

Racing in the Rockies!

Racing in the Rockies!

Granby, Colorado- January 5, 2009 – As this New Year starts so does the Xtreme Mountain Racing sno-cross series. January 3rd and 4th marked the opening weekend for XMR in Granby, Colorado. This first weekend back to sno-cross in the west was a reunion for racing families and a lot of good friends and an inauguration for new riders and fans.  XMR – formerly Mountain States Snowmobile Racing – rebranded and under new leadership – is back and better than ever for its second year running.

The scene was set – it had been snowing for weeks leading up to the race, and in usual Colorado goodness, two of the 300-plus days of sunshine made the race track a great place to be for a high altitude tan with a cold breeze! Tucker Hibbert and others had been at the race site earlier in the week to get some tuning and practice in before X-Games in Aspen later this month, and the Accord and Selby camps had constructed a great track to ride. The race rigs started pulling in on Friday as racing families’ final preparation for the weekend’s events. [Read more]
